(0) Introduction to Rudraksha
The name "rudraksha" comes from the Sanskrit words "rudra," meaning "Lord Shiva," and "aksha," meaning "tear drops." According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva meditated for thousands of years and when he opened his eyes, tears fell to the ground and became the first rudraksha trees. Rudraksha beads are found in different sizes and shapes, and each type has a different number of faces or "mukhi." The most common types are the 5-faced (panch mukhi) beads.
